An inadequate way of fastening your deck band board to the foundation wall is by putting the lag screw
through the wall sheathing. By doing this the lag screw will not sufficiently support the fully intended weight.
The adequate way to assure that the through bolt will support the full weight of the deck is by making
sure that the wall sheathing does not come between the house band board and the deck band board.
By doing this the 5/8" diameter through bolt can be fastened on the house side.
